Low Location Lighting

Resolution A. 752 (18) prescribes the certification, installation and maintenance of a low location lighting system on passenger ships and ferries with more than 36 passengers.
A ground-level low-location safety guidance system is used if there is a risk that other optical safety guidance systems will – due to strong smoke development or something similar – no longer be able to function as they should. Low-location safety guidance systems consist of safety signs and guide markings which are mounted on the wall or along the floor. When selecting the operating mode, we recommend a combination of photoluminescent guidance systems and electrical emergency exit lights.
The LLL system must be tested in accordance with the FSS Code. The result of the photometric measurement at the installation site serves as the basis for approval by the classification society.
